CoProVision: Automatic Co-Processor Generation for Vision Applications

CpProVision is part of an on going collaboration between   Chair for Embedded Systems (CES) at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Germany  and VISpro SEECS-NUST. The project aims to propose schemes for automatic generation of high-performance hardware accelerators and coprocessors specially targeted for the domain of Digital Image Processing and Computer Vision. This shall enable generation of performance-efficient hardware accelerators that can be reconfigured on FPGAs to expedite different image processing and computer vision applications such as stereo reconstruction, object tracking, video registration and geometrical warping. As an example a co-processor speeding-up “Feature Matching” can be instantiated in an application specific processor performing stereo reconstruction to accelerate the overall design

"A Multi View Imaging (MVI) Processing Platform: Real Time Panoramic Mosaic Generation"  is an ICT R&D funded project. The project shall be carried out at VISpro Lab SEECS-NUST in collaboration with Epic Technologies Islamabad.

Project Abstract: Multi View Imaging (MVI) techniques are finding extensive usage in future multimedia, surveillance, inspection and video conferencing applications. Particularly, the multi-billion entertainment/film industry is spending huge amounts in R & D related to immersive multimedia (e.g. Immersive TV). However, the biggest hurdle to-date has been the parallel processing of multiple video streams acquired in real time. This limits the benefits of MVI based systems for most applications. The project aims to design and develop a prototype system aimed as a platform for Multi View Imaging (MVI) applications such as Immersive Television and Video Conferencing. The project will result in a complete embedded hardware system, capable of generating real time panoramic mosaics, using video input from multiple cameras.

This is an opportunity for being part a of highly skilled FPGA team, working on the design and development of the state of the art solutions for image processing and Computer Vision applications. We have the following job openings for the project.

VISpro & ETRI Korea to develop an Ultra High Definition Panorama generation system

VISpro SEECS-NUST has won a collaboration grant from Electrical & Telecommunication Research Institute  ETRI to develop an Ultra High Definition (UHD) Panorama generation system. The system is aimed at producing immersive larger-then-life visual contents from multiple independent camera arrays.

VISpro wins ICT R&D Grant of Rs 14.7 Million Rs. for Multi View Imaging (MVI) Project

VISpro Labs SEECS & Epic Technologies have recently got approved a funding of Rs 14.87 Million Rs. from ICT R&D Fund, The title of the project is: "A Multi View Imaging (MVI) processing platform: Real time panoramic mosaic generation"

The MVI platform will also provide basic user interaction capabilities to customize the generated panoramic video, which can assist in solving another problem in immersive TV content generation, namely the Free Viewpoint TV (FTV in Immersive TV terminology).

Digital Image Calibration for Multi-Projector System

DICMS is an industrial R&D project aimed at the development of a large seamless dome displays using overlapping projectors.
The  curved  nature of a dome screen and  the  projectors’  different  intrinsic  &  extrinsic  properties  with respect  to  each  other  result  into  geometric  and  photometric distortions  in  the  final  augmented  projection.
